The History of Float Storage
One lazy Sunday afternoon, Bob Schuetz and Ric Young were in their pool pondering how they could store their numerous floats effectively, neatly and safely. Similar storage concerns arose with their ‘noodles’, a wide array of pool toys, swim goggles and their favorite 5-year old nephew’s ‘sponge balls.’
They “knew” there was a better way. Stacking them risked having them blown away. Additionally, stacking the floats like pancakes would expose them to mold and mildew – an inherent health issue – and possibly cause the floats to discolor.
A warm family memory popped into their minds. In the 60’s and 70’s their mothers had attached a kitchen towel rack – with three swinging “arms” – to the inside of a kitchen cabinet door. It was safe. It was effective. It was popular. Every home had one!
After many plans and revisions, the first prototype 3 float “Hanging Float Rack®” was built using traditional PVC plumbing pipe from Home Depot.
In November 2008, The Hanging Float Rack® made its splashing debut at the U.S.’s largest Pool/Spa/Patio Expo in Las Vegas. It was a HUGE smash. Independent retail stores loved them. It also attracted significant attention from several of the largest e-Retailers and franchised box stores. The “Hanging Float Rack®” earned the coveted “Reader’s Choice Award” from Pool & Spa News Magazine in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
